The head gatekeeper at the Integral Senior Living Phoenix facility know as “The Stratford.” This lady was well aware of the mental instabilities of Dennis Kloss. She had been informed of his sociopathic characteristics by many, and even provided with documentation written by Dennis himself that reinforced the fact that he was not mentally stable. She was basically terrified to disobey any order that Dennis put forth regardless of how inhumane or devious it was. His intimidation and threats had the entire staff at the institution in fear of him. Ms. Templeton, as well as all of the staff at the Stratford, were all very aware of what was transpiring regarding Joann’s unreasonable isolation and confinement through their own first had knowledge through dealing with Dennis Kloss who was usually 2000 miles away at his home in Michigan. They all had more than a reasonable basis to believe that Joann’s wishes were not being followed by Dennis Kloss, yet remained silent and failed to report the atrocities that they were witness to. Basically this placed them in a position of aiding Dennis Kloss’ efforts to keep Joann isolated from literally the majority of her family and friends against her will. The fact is, that even after the Ombudsman from Area One Agency On Aging helped the Stratford staff understand that visitors being allowed or not allowed was to be JOANN’S decision, they continued to bar visitors and communication with her. Anyone who attempted to visit witnessed their routine. A staff member would disappear behind the main door, place a phone call to Dennis Kloss (in Michigan) and then reappear and inform (quite rudely most reported) the hopeful visitor that “Joann” did not want to see them. This as well as withholding her own cell phone from her was the protocol they continued to enforce rather than the understanding they had with the Ombudsman.
